My Story

​

My name is Kerrise Hanley, and I am a proud resident of St. Kitts & Nevis – geographically the smallest sovereign state in the Western hemisphere. Please note however, that the size of my tiny island home is a stark contrast to the size of my far-reaching but precise ambitions, as a twenty-eight year old professional, an athlete and mother of an energetic toddler. Time management, adaptability, multi-tasking, organization, self-motivation, critical thinking, and problem solving, are skills that I’ve honed through my various personal and professional experiences over the years, and as I consider and envision new, exciting career paths and possibilities for myself, I trust that they will come in quite handy and I proactively pursue them.

Aside from my innate aspirations and transferable skills, academics has always been an important aspect of my life. I graduated from the Basseterre High School and The Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College, which are both locally based. Subsequently, I pursued a degree in New Media at Concordia College in New York. I was unable to complete my studies there as I had hoped, due to a series of unfortunate and unforeseeable personal circumstances. Today, I am grateful to have overcome these circumstances, and I now intend to complete the degree acquisition process, particularly in General Business, as my interest and has somewhat shifted with my blossoming entrepreneurial spirit. Monroe College has been a top choice for me. Through my extensive research, I have been specifically impressed by its dynamic, real-world and hands-on approach to education, and through reading many testimonials from its students and staff, it is evident that I will be studying within a highly motivating and supportive system. Monroe College’s strong, flexible online program appeals greatly to me. The way classes can be tailored to suit my timetable, and the way all of the rich resources of typical on-campus learning can be accessed remotely, especially during this challenging pandemic era, makes my degree goal, attainable.

It would be remiss of me to outline my ambitions and attributes, without highlighting my star role as a single mom. My daughter has totally transformed and enriched my life. She has sparked a new fire in me to thrive and succeed, as I aim to be a great role model in her life and be able to provide her with nothing short of the best opportunities both now and in the future. This renewed sense of drive and determination, coupled with everything aforementioned, makes this the opportune time for me to continue my studies through a reputable, rewarding institution, Monroe College.
